BICYCLE TOURS TO VISIT BURGUNDY
Departing from our hotel in Montbard, there is no shortage of bike tours! The Burgundy Canal from Tonnerrois to Auxois offers superb horizons over 212 km. Villages of character and hedgerow landscapes punctuate a peaceful resort. The canal towpaths, supported by small quiet roads, allow you to connect Migennes to Dijon, preferably by mountain bike or VTC, while enjoying numerous tourist sites. that in the surrounding area.
From Montbard, you can take more or less large stages as you wish, as a couple or as a family: to Venarey-les-Laumes at 13.3 km (approximately 1h15) towards Mont-Auxois dominated by the statue of Vercingétorix or on the other side to Ancy-le-Franc, 25.5 km away (around 3 hours) in the heart of wooded hills.

The Buffon Museum, labeled Musée de France and “Maison des Illustres”, proposes a journey through the history of science, from cabinets of curiosities to the first Museums, focusing on personalities born in Montbard: Georges-Louis Leclerc, Count de Buffon (1707-1788) and Louis Jean-Marie Daubenton (1716-1800). Two temporary exhibition rooms offer, in connection with the museum's collections, a discovery of the artistic and scientific heritage of the two famous naturalists.
Also worth seeing are the Tour de l’Aubespin and the Tour Saint-Louis. These two 14th century towers, along with the Saint-Urse church, the ramparts and the underground rooms, are the most visible remains of the old medieval fortress.
